About the Outfitter:

Unlike all other Bear hunts this can be not just a “Stumble on Bear Hunt”, in this case it is a baited bear hunt that you can do after you fill your moose license.

A large island North West of the state of Maine. From the US there is land travel from the United States except for a small span that a ferry takes you and your vehicle across so that you can fulfill your dream of taking a moose. The Gander International Airport is accessible from any city in North America. Upon your arrival at Gander, we will meet you and take you directly to our lodge, a drive of less than an hour.

Newfoundland is a Canadian province that has more moose than people. You will like those odd because they are working for you, and there is no place in the world where you can make that statement except for here.

Moose are found in the most roadless places they can find. You can bet your first shot that they will either be in knee deep bog or all the way to standing in 8 foot of water. While you are hunting you will not only see your share of moose but also black bear before your kill and tagging out early is a right time to shoot a prime coated black bear, and even mountain caribou.

As non-residents are required to have a guide for hunting in our province, we provide experienced, knowledgeable guides who are thoroughly familiar with all species and their habitats.

Location:

Newfoundland, Canada

Hunt Type(s):

Fully guided.

Species & Recommended Seasons:

Moose, caribou and black bear.

Seasons & Licenses:

Caribou licenses are reserved 3 years in advance so best case you might be able to do the caribou hunt in 3 or 4 years.  August 30 through September 12 is an exclusive bow hunting season while September 13 through October is open to either gun or bow. Since this is a fall hunt there is a good possibility of shooting a bear if you tag out early. In addition, a caribou tag may be available, but since the Woodland Caribou is low in numbers Newfoundland is the only huntable herd any more. The Caribou Grand Slam shooters usually have those tied up for years in advance. The Woodland Caribou is a smaller caribou sub-species. The barren Ground Caribou is much larger and I can easily get you licenses but it would have to be next year.

Lay of the Land:

We don’t do much walking but when we do the brush can be very wet. Good rain pants and a raincoat is necessary. The temperatures are usually mild with nights in the 30’s and days in the 50’s with rain possible at any time.

Lodging is on us at our lodge nestled in one of the most productive hunting areas in Newfoundland. It is complete with hot and cold running water, electricity, fireplaces and lounge meeting area. It has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen- dining and living rooms downstairs. The sleeping loft offers dormitory conditions and is divided into two private areas.

Moose are big animals along with the best eating, so to ensure your game is properly prepared, we have butchering, chilling and freezing within an hour of our lodge. There are no guarantees in the outfitting business. However, we will do everything in our power to provide you with the best hunting trip imaginable. Our high success rate demonstrates our commitment to you.
