Elk & Mule Deer

Hunting Rocky Mountain Elk and mule deer is a deep-seated passion amongst many, and for many more a bucket list trophy hunt. Hunting takes place from 2900 to 7000 feet elevation.  Note** Even though they scout year round for your hunt, and have some of the most experienced guides Idaho has to offer, a lot of your success depends on your ability to be mobile, and for Mother Nature to provide you with good weather. They do their absolute best to give you the highest opportunity to harvest an elk of your dreams.

Archery Elk Hunting
Our archery hunts can very quickly become some of the biggest adrenaline rushes of your life. Hunting big Montana bulls with your bow while they are bugling during the mating season proves to be one of the most action-packed hunts we can offer! If you seek a true elk hunting experience then come when the bull elk are full of testosterone and the forest is alive with activity. Archery shots can be as close as 10 yards or as far as 60 yards, it’s best to practice at a multitude of angles and distances to ensure your shot is true.
Rifle Elk Hunting

Montana has some of the most rewarding elk hunting the country can offer, and will give many a profound sense of accomplishment at the culmination of the hunt. Our rifle hunts take place from as low as 2900 ft to as high as 7,000 ft in elevation. During this time of the year our guides use a multitude of hunting methods to increase our odds of harvesting a mature Montana bull elk.

We do our absolute best to give you the highest opportunity to harvest an elk of your dreams.

Location:

Western Montana elk on in units 204 and 261, elk and mule deer 240, elk and whitetail unit 270.

Hunt Type(s):

Guided hunts from motel, base camp or backcountry camps.

Species & Recommended Seasons:

Elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, black bear (Spring and Fall) and wolf.

Licenses:

Hunt Provider can guarantee tags and if you don’t get one or too late there is a waiting list that they have first choice of once they are available.  Buy a MT preference point before 12/31, 2nd point by 4/1 and hunt provider gives you a 3rd point by applying through them.  100% chance of drawing with 3 points, 85% chance with 2 points, 40% with no points.

 License and Voucher Watchdog will get you the licenses you need.

Party Size:

Single hunter if doing a 1 on 1 or 2 minimum for elk, deer and spot/stalk bear hunts. Otherwise 1 or more hunters per group.  Only 15 elk, 5 deer, 5 lion and lots of black bear hunters allowed per year.

Mode of Travel:

Vehicle, horse and foot.  Vehicle and snowmobiles for mountain lion.

Animal Quality:

Elk typically 270-300” but get up in the 350-360”.  Mule Deer 160-180”.  Black bear 5.5’ to 7’ and 50% color phased, 150-450 pounds.  Mountain lion 120-180 pounds.

Success Rate:

Archery elk 50-75% shot opportunity, rifle about 50%, black bear and lion 90%+. 

Hunt Difficulty:

All hunts can be demanding at times so best if you are in good shape.
