Hunt ID: NV-3001
About the Hunt Provider:
Lion hunts start before dawn, the crisp morning air sharp against your skin as we roll out on pre-scouted roads, scanning for fresh tracks. The crunch of boots on gravel, the faint scent of pine, and the sudden excitement when the dogs pick up a trail—it’s a rush like no other.
Once the dogs break loose, their baying echoes through the rugged mountain valleys, heart pounding as you push through rocky terrain and thick brush. The terrain may be moderate compared to other states, but the steep climbs and uneven ground demand strength and endurance.
When the cougar is treed or bayed, the air tightens with tension—the dogs circling, the cat’s growl cutting through the silence, and your breath visible in the cool mountain air. Moving in close with the dogs, you face the moment every hunter lives for: deciding if this is the lion worth the harvest. It’s raw, it’s thrilling, and it’s an experience etched in memory forever.
Benefits to Hunting Nevada
- Nevada allows you to hunt mountain lions day or night, so if we get on a long race and it starts to get dark, we can keep going. Where in other states, you must pull the dogs off and wait for daylight.
- Statewide quota keeps hunter congestion to a minimum compared to states that have units and zones closing, forcing hunters into the remaining open hunt Areas
- You are allowed two lion tags
- Public access to some of the most remote beautiful country in the lower 48 states
Lion season runs year-round, and unlike most part-time hound hunters, we fully capitalize on this advantage. Spring cougar hunting is perfect for those who want to avoid the cold and snow.
During this season, our tactics shift—starting early on dusty roads to pick up tracks, then riding or focusing on water holes where cats come to drink. We value the freedom of full access to all roads and the ease of dry-ground hunting without slogging through deep snow.
While riding can be a useful tool, it’s not required to be successful on these hunts. It’s all about smart strategies and knowing the country.
Nevada offers the ideal terrain for dry ground mountain lion hunts.
