About the Outfitter:

The Frenchman Unit is the number one trophy mule deer and whitetail area in the whole state of Nebraska.

You are hunting in a place that Nebraska calls its “Mule Deer Jewel”.

To keep the hunt price down we have just supplied a guided hunt of the professionally managed deer concentrated land. The outfitter and guide are the farmer himself with many years under his belt from living, farming, ranching, hunting, guiding and outfitting on this precious mule deer Mecca.

The landowner will take you on the land, show you his property fences, show you where the whitetail deer feed, bed and water, as well as tell you where he sees them the most. With this he also provides you with his cell phone number so you can call with any questions that you may have later. Remember though come Saturday morning you are hunting alone. One person makes less noise than two people, so it works out well if you are just quiet.

Location:

Southwest Nebraska near McCook, Frenchman Unit.

Hunt Type(s):

Guided and semi-guided showing you best parts of the property to hunt.

Species & Recommended Seasons:

Mule deer, whitetail deer and turkey.

Licenses:

There are 3 units in Nebraska that the licenses draw out every year and they are in what is called the mule deer Conservation Area (MDCA). This is one of them. Currently it is requiring 2-3 points to draw the Frenchman Unit.

Watchdog® can provide you with a mule deer point, as required to draw a license for a mule deer, but no points can be purchased without the correct unique process that is only in this area of the whole state of Nebraska, then get you a rut rifle whitetail licensean any deer archery license or a muzzleloader mule deer or whitetail license automatically both in the same year. Watchdog also has a 50% success rate of getting a mule deer license with 0 preference points in the Frenchman Unit. They give you a free whitetail doe license with your mule deer license.

License and Voucher Watchdog will get you the licenses you need.

Lay of the Land:

About 3000 acres for mule deer and 2000 acres for whitetail. River bottom, corn, alfalfa, wheat, rye, CRP fields and untouched habitat. The land is relatively open so it may be a 50-yard shot, or a 300-yard shot at the buck of your choice, in the river bottom or across the corn field. Plan on wind in the afternoon and possibly in the morning as well. Temperatures can be as high as 70 and as low as 0 Degrees during a 2 or 3 day stretch. This is a “Low Impact Hunt” so you don’t need to plan on an all-day walking session. Most of it is sitting up watching a crossing or feeding area. Whitetail hunting is 10 times more successful if you sit hidden and let the whitetail deer come to you then to travel and try to walk to the whitetail deer.

Party Size:

One or more hunters per group. 4 max per season.

Mode of Travel:

Vehicle and foot, glass, spot and stalk or sit in ground blinds. Bring your own tree stands but must not harm trees.

Deer average 170”.

Success Rate:

99% opportunity and 99% success.
