Hunt ID: CO-5184
About the Hunt Provider:
Hunt mule deer in a trophy area while you are hunting elk. A DIY hunt with 7000 acres private land surrounded by the back side by national forest. A great hunt for the experienced elk hunter. The recommendation is to split the group some having cow licenses and some bull licenses to increase your hunting success. You will be hunting between 8200 and 10,000 feet in altitude.
This ranch is like no other. It caters to the do-it-yourself, self-guided, DIY Hunter. There is no guiding available, just a lot of room for the elk hunter to see elk.
You won’t see another hunter on the 7000 acres, (Nearly 11 square miles or 1 mile by 1 mile squares) and almost the same for the adjacent National Forest because it butts up against the private ranch and access is very limited for the public.
ATV’s are not recommended because the big elk here are savvy to an ATV motor noise and they will disappear before you ever see them. A 4x4 truck is the best vehicle to travel because they are accustomed to trucks from the ranching operation.
We want to provide you with a DIY hunt opportunity that won’t break the bank but provide good deer and elk hunting success. Our goal is to provide you with a great experience at such an affordable price, that you will want to keep coming back, year after year.
They know and understand that most sportsmen today do not need a guide to have a fun and successful hunt. What is important is that you have private land to hunt 7000 acres of elk. The area is well known for its big elk, so we hunt it so that it is likely to continue having these big boys around.
There is hunting on the ranch for anyone with limited mobility.
As far as the numbers, it is better for elk than deer unless you are after a trophy mule deer and you have several preference points.
