Hunt pristine 140 acres of private deer country close to home just west of Fort Collins. The landowner is a hunter and has the property pre-scouted, knows it and will give you info on game movement.
The property will not have archers on the property if there are muzzleloader hunters. The landowner lives on the property and will meet you there for your hunt. He will show you around and show you where he sees deer and elk the most, where they water and feed. The deer are there year round but travel in, out and then filter back when weather fronts pass through. With today’s muzzleloader the only disadvantage is the 150-yard distance that allows you to not fill the front bead, but then again this is the rut, they are coming to you. Since water is somewhat scarce a good well or creek is a magnet for game. This helps them come to you instead of you going to them. The landowner always has the last say as to how he breaks up the archery week dates. Since Colorado does not put the September dates to start on a Saturday then they have different breakdowns for their weeks. Muzzleloader does always begin on a Saturday, which is about the only thing that is standard. Camping is allowed on the property and parking a trailer or motor home. No electric or water.
2021 archery season they saw elk, mule deer and black bear. A 6x7 bull elk was taken during 1st rifle. Also the biggest black bear the landowner has ever seen was harassing his property.
