About the Outfitter:

We are very well known for our high success pack-in elk hunt. These hunts are what is called a traditional elk hunt. You will be riding through Southwestern Colorado and hunting the elk country in a famous unit of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and thousands of elk. Our guides are ours, well trained and experienced in bringing our hunters in on multiple trains with pack animals carrying our hunters gear to the area that they will be hunting.

We have a package with our hunt that is not provided by any other outfitter. We look at the things you need and the things that you do not need, and you only pay for what you need. We are a family that understands that our hunters have families as well and cannot get a second mortgage on their house, just to go on an elk hunting trip. So, we begin with a lower cost hunt, then we look at what is required and what you can do yourself to lower expenses. It required a way to get your gear and you 7 miles back in the forest with draws, beaver ponds and meadows. You also require a tent and camp to stay in for the 5 days that is efficient and weatherproof. We don’t cook for you so that saves you money.

And if you want a guide we can provide that too in order to increase your odds of success.

Your guide is an experienced elk caller so you can be assured that he knows how to talk elk, a key reason to have a guide. Any animal can come to a call, but any animal can easily be spooked away by the wrong call sent out at the wrong time. Not knowing what to say is worse than not saying anything at all. Your guide knows the difference, and since hunting tactics changes as the month of September you can see how important it is to do it right the first time.

Then we hunt only the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rifle seasons as the 4th rifle season is late enough that we could get snowed in.

While we feel most of the country we hunt can be effectively hunted from a drop camp, especially with a couple of years of area experience, we will work with you on a guided hunt at your request. We have a limited number of guides we are comfortable will do you an excellent job, these guides will work with you out of your drop camp. We strongly recommend a guide for you if you do not have a minimum of 2 elk hunting trips under your belt. We want you to be successful but if you want to hunt without a guide it is your choice.

Outfitter drop camps provide hunters with fully furnished camp sites. Services include pack in, set up, and pack out, plus game packing. Camp’s supply tents, cots, chairs, table, cook stove, propane, lanterns, cooking utensils and heaters. Hunting license and food are the responsibility of the hunter. Pack on horseback and experience hunting at its best! Bring your sleeping back, personal belonging and what you want to eat, and you are geared up. Your tent already has 4 cots, for sleeping and 1 for putting items on.
