Semi-guided/DIY hunt with lodging hunting on national forest around the back side of the 600 acre private ranch where no one can get to. The same area that the big bucks and bulls travel through to get to the ranch. They only guide 4-5 hunters per season so the pressure is minimal for such a large area.
You will be hunting the area around the ranch which includes BLM land and national forest. There is no access to the public land against the back side of the ranch due to natural boundaries that prevent anything except for a mountain goat to come in that way from the other side of the mountain. The deer and elk know that and stay in this protected area. The elk in these areas come out on the ranch and then at daylight go back into cover. The people around you push elk toward you and the ranch. They are all the same deer and elk, that the guided ranch people hunt and just move around the ranch and jump the 3 strand barbed wire fence that surrounds the ranch to keep the summer cattle on the pasture.
Over the last 25+ years hunting these units clients have harvested the best trophies. Full service guided hunts are always booked in advance.

DIY hunting success is not tracked. This is a good elk hunting area. If he sets a hunter success number for the average hunter, then the question is raised how good your hiking is, hunting skills.... average or better than average. Then there is no way of saying at what level the earlier hunters’ skills were to grade it off. If your skills are better than average, then your success rate will be better than average.
